Polar Gators

Matt and Anne Cowan in AlaskaMatt* (BSHSE ’94) and Anne Cowan* (BSBC ’94) took their Florida pride to Juneau, Alaska, this summer.

During their trip to the Mendenhall Glacier, the Cowans spotted orcas, humpback whales, seals and a bald eagle. They also glimpsed spawning salmon and a polar bear taking care of her two cubs.

The couple lives in Silver Spring, Md.

The Cowans aren’t the only Gators to brave the Last Frontier. Briana Kelley (BA ’07) recently visited the Gulf of Alaska.

Alligators may be cold-blooded, but our Gators aren’t afraid of the snow. To see more Gators braving the extreme cold foreign to Florida, check out more of our Chilly Gators.
